Artist Lecture Series: Victoria Chick
Mar 5 @ 6:30 pm

Part 2 “The Private Life of a Masterpiece” series, featuring Vermeer’s work, “The Art of Painting”, an oil done in the 17th century.

The lecture will examine the 200 years prior to Vermeer and his debt to discoveries and innovations of the Renaissance artists.

Victoria Chick attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS where John Bashor, Chairman of the Art Dept., introduced her to drawing from the model and, in particular, gesture drawing, beginning a life-long interest in expressing movement.  The paintings at the Birger SandzenMemorial Art Gallery, also located in Lindsborg, were an eye opening experience in color.  Chick received her B.A. in Art from the Universityof Missouri at Kansas City where muralist Eric Bransby was her most influential studio professor.  Her interest in Art History also developed at this time.  She was awarded an M.F.A. in Painting from Kent StateUniversity in Ohio.
